How to Use the Online Voice Recorder

Record a voice note, save separate takes, or open your recordings in FreeMediaEditor to trim and arrange them.

1. Open the recorder and start a take

Open Voice Recorder using the link below. Choose Start new recording and allow microphone access when your browser asks. Speak into your microphone and watch the timer and level meter. Microphone access requires HTTPS on the public website; localhost also works for local use.

2. Pause, resume and stop

Choose Pause to take a break, then Resume to continue the same recording. Paused time is left out of the saved audio. Choose Stop & save track when you are finished. The take appears under Your recordings. Start a new recording to create another separate track.

3. Listen and download

Use the player on each recording to review it. Choose Download MP3 to save that take, or Download all (.zip) to save all recordings together. Recordings are exported as 320 kbps mono MP3. Stop & save track keeps a take in this browser session; it does not download it to your device.

4. Edit one recording

Choose Edit on a recording to open it in the audio-only FreeMediaEditor. Click its waveform to position the red marker, then use Split to divide the selected section. Select an unwanted section and use Delete segment to remove it. Undo reverses an edit. Your original recording stays in the recorder list.

5. Edit all recordings together

Choose Edit all tracks above the recording list. Every take is added to File Manager and automatically placed on a separate waveform row. All tracks start at time zero, so they initially play together. Drag them to different start times to arrange a sequence, or mute a row to leave it out of the mix.

6. Arrange clips and leave pauses

Drag a split audio section to move it independently. Empty gaps play as silence. Clip edges snap near the red marker and the edges of clips in other rows. Hold Ctrl and use the mouse wheel over the timeline to zoom; zoom below 1× to make room beyond the current end. Reset zoom returns to 1×.

7. Save your edited result

Choose Export audio only (MP3) to download the mixed timeline. When editing an individual recording, Save edit as new track adds the edited version to the recording list. Export project saves an editable project that you can reopen with Import project. Back to recorder returns to your takes within the same embedded application; follow the unsaved-project prompt if shown.

Before you close the page

Recording and editing happen on your device. Download the takes you want to keep and export a project if you need to continue editing later. Refreshing or closing the page can discard recordings and unsaved work. An exported editor project contains that project, not every other take still in the recorder list.

If recording does not start

Check that microphone access is allowed for the site and that your device has an available microphone. If access was denied, update the site permission in your browser and try again. A microphone used by another application may be unavailable. Keep the page open while a recording is being saved or exported.
